"Mind you, I've been here through the bad times too, one year we came
second!" - Bob Paisley

Bob Paisley joined Liverpool in 1939, having previously played for Bishop Auckland's famed Amateur Cup winning side.  Although, due to the First World War he didn't make his first team debut for another 6 years.  During the season of 1945-46 he became a regular and made a total of 278 appearances, scoring 13 goals in 8 seasons.

In 1946-47, Bob played in Liverpool's title winning side and scored a vital goal against Everton in the 1950 semi-final.  However, a 5-4 boardroom vote to leave him out of the Final against Arsenal almost resulted in him leaving the club.  But Bob showed his loyalty to the club and became part of the Boot Room Staff, acting as trainer, coach, physio and assistant to Bill Shankly.

In 1974 he became Liverpool's Manager, taking over from Bill Shankly, and went on to become the most successful Manager in the clubs history.  He lead Liverpool to 6 League Titles (1975-76, 1976-77, 1978-79, 1979-80, 1981-82, 1982-83), 3 European Cup's (1976-77, 1977-78, 1980-81), 1 UEFA Cup (1975-76), 3 successive League Cup's (1980-81, 1981-82, 1982-83).

After Liverpool's European Cup win in 1977, Bob was awarded the OBE and claimed his first Manager of the Year Award and in 1978-79 he helped Liverpool break a number of records with their League title win.  After retiring in 1983 and serving 44 glory years, Bob was appointed a Director.

"If you are in the penalty area, and don't know what to do with the
ball. Put it in the net, and we'll discuss the options later."
- Bob Paisley
